And also I fixed this clock.. which hasn’t been working for 6 years.
I bought it 30 years ago!

Post break up is obviously a tricky time, so I’ve thrown myself into lots of exercise.
A week in and actually it’s amazing how my ravaged body still somehow responds positively.
Im using my arm crank for a hour every day and varying what I do on it. Always it’s hard tho ! I don’t take any prisoners when it comes to exercise. Benefits – better body ( what’s left of me ) and definitely better sleep.
Ive always always said that the best cure for insomnia is loads of exercise. You have no Choice but to sleep.
Wendy recommended something called an Airofit. It’s resistance lung training. You inhale or exhale via a mouthpiece like a snorkel mouth part, and connect to an app on your phone which tells you what to do in the sessions. It’s all about increasing your lung capacity. For me that means I’d be more Covid resistant, and have a louder voice hopefully ( cos it’s been very quiet for 7 years! ) At the start my lung capacity was less than 3 litres ( half what it was pre injury ). I’ll see what happens.. but already after a week I’m DEFINITELY breathing differently and more deeply.
Not cheap at £250 but for me it may produce a dramatic difference.
And my resting pulse rate is now 52.. which is good.
Pre injury it was 37, but hey!
Becoming a dab hand at cutting my own hair ..
No girlfriend to help, and a carer that is worried she’ll cut my ears off ( I think ) so I’ve no choice.
Its THINNING SCISSORS that are the key. They sort of cut every other hair, rather than the whole length off, so when you cut into a big thick bit of hair, you end up with it a lot smaller but the same length as before. Genius, whoever invented those.
✂️🦁
Because I’m vulnerable and to save me going to the shops, I get a government food parcel every week.
There’s a fair bit of stuff in it, and actually I give more than half to the local food bank, as I don’t eat much!
What’s included though is 2 toilet rolls. That’s obviously the Government Bog Paper Weekly Allowance – the GBPWA.
Given there are 500 sheets per roll ( in a 2 ply roll ) that’s 1000 sheets. Divided by 7 is about 142.
That’s 142 sheets a day. That strikes me as a fair bit. Let’s say you have 2 poos a day ( if you are pretty regular as a fella, and maybe the same as a female ( but then you need extra to wipe when you have a wee, whereas the boys might shake and let the underpants dry ), that’s 72 sheets per poo for a fella and for a lady who wees 10 times a day, and a couple of No 2’s that’s perhaps 7 sheets per wee, and 35 per No 2.
If you are in the habit of using more than this, then you should know that you are exceeding the Government Recommended Bog Roll Allowance, and ought use less.
Just so you know.
The degree of ‘incompetence’ can really only show one thing – that this government has actually given up on trying to contain Covid. The ‘ attempts to contain it ‘ are largely just posturings to give the impression that they are trying. We all know that 99% of people won’t die, and most will have few symptoms at all. The efforts to stop the spread are ultimately fruitless in a society as ‘ liberal ‘ as ours.
We have exercised our right to sacrifice ( some of ) the sick, the elderly and the unhealthy.
It’s a Survival of the Fittest scenario.
The UK government DOES KNOW THIS.
Many people, far more than are saying so, agree with the harsh logic.
Money always, always comes first.
Personally I’m doing what’s sensible – trying to keep what’s left of me in good shape. I’ve upped the ante significantly ref exercise. Thanks to an old arm crank ( no dirty jokes please ) that my buddy, Dan, gave me years ago, and which ( the late and kind ) Wendy moved for me, I can now use it ( one hand at a time ). It’s outside, I crank up the outside speakers and pretend I’m out cycling or kayaking or running. I have to suppress the fact that I’m a poor c*** in a wheelchair and pretend otherwise, to make it more glamorous in my head!
It does ( sort of ) work ..👍
I saw this gizmo in a park the other day and thought it might be good for my buddy, Leigh.
He’s a proper tennis player, and all the clubs are closed, and he misses his tennis.
I’m quite pleased with that. Comes back a bit fast, but it wouldn’t if he didn’t hit the bloody thing so hard..!
Wendy left the other day, as in for good. She didn’t approve, and couldn’t relate to, me having various online conversations with various people ( the only ones she actually objected to were the ones with females, she was fine with the others. The conversations were jokey, lighthearted, irreverent and contained ‘ banter ‘, as has always been my nature )
She gave me a pretty hard time for a while and I assured her ( truthfully ) that I’m by nature a sociable and gregarious guy, and because I now don’t have the options of going cycling or running or kayaking etc, and I don’t live with a partner or friends, or my children, and there are no venues open to visit, and I can’t go to the shops because I’m ‘ vulnerable ‘, I now spend more time chatting online ( which I regard as better than just watching telly, particularly in the current social lockdown )
Wendy took her thoughts to two Facebook ‘ friends ‘ who have never met me or know anything about me. Their conclusion? That I was way out of order, and was quite obviously’ seeking validation’ from other women…. which in The High Court of Facebook is a pretty damning indictment. It is the same apparently as being unfaithful, and playing your partner along until someone better comes along.
Ohhhh I see. Very helpful Your Honours…. thanks for such a constructive sentence.
You see, there is very much another, and far more factual side to this.
What happens when you go from prime physical Alpha Male to wheelchair bound cripple is that you feel invalid, as in NOT VALID. It’s obviously no coincidence that the very word is used to describe people like me. In France the disabled parking spots are reserved for Les Invalides ..
A friend of mine wants to canoe in the Yukon1000 race next year. He’s asked me for my advice ( as a former winner ). My reaction? Do I feel it’s a bit of a nuisance, that I’ve been ‘ consulted ‘ ? Would I rather not be bothered by his questions? No … I actually feel GRATEFUL that I’m of use to someone, because most of the time I feel invalid and pointless. Just people actually wanting to chat to me, I feel grateful for. It’s ‘ a problem ‘ you could say, borne of a massively confidence crippling injury. And I can’t see my self image improving, ever. As I age, it’ll probably just get worse.
It’s going to become a big problem shortly. With mass unemployment looming all over the Western World will come massive psychological trauma too. People that considered themselves an integral part of the companies that they worked for will suddenly be let go. They will be deemed surplus to the company requirement, and therefore invalid to the business. Why me, will be a very common reaction, surely I’m essential, surely I’m VALID. But no, you aren’t mate. You are being discarded.
After my injury and the ensuing huge effects on me I became surplus to the requirements of the business I jointly started, I became surplus to my wife and kids, and gradually but steadily I became invalid to lots of people I called friends ( not necessarily shunned, but just ‘ peripheralise’d ‘ )
When you can’t partake ‘ normally’ in stuff, you stop getting invited. Lots of people will shortly understand how that feels. Someone you know loses his job. Oh dear, you think. Some time later you want to go to an expensive restaurant. You think of your mate ( now jobless ) and you think ‘ shit, he probably can’t afford to come now, as money will be tight, and I don’t want to ask him and put him in the position of saying he can’t afford it. And what if he thinks I can contribute to his costs ?! I don’t want that situation, so I’ll not ask him, it’s easier all round ‘. To you it’s no big deal, you go anyway with some other people. But to the guy that used to get invites it’s a really sad thing. Maybe he can afford it. He can’t work out why he’s getting ignored now…. and feels unwanted and invalid to both his former employees and now his mates too ? Result – depression ( and confusion, then resentment )
And the effect of this on me?
Well I feel more INVALID than ever.
Thanks High Court of Facebook. Seeking validation? Me? Yep, you got that verdict right. But the sentence, that was a carriage of misjustice.
See.. my Ex girlfriend… well, she just didn’t understand me… and all the significant good aspects and two way help we’ve given each other became invalid.
What a shame.
I can tell you, there are a lot of people with my condition that are worried at the moment. With no sign of a vaccine and the lockdown ( inevitably ) being removed, those with compromised health are very vulnerable. Do they just stay in 24/7 ? They are at risk from visiting carers, as am I. Covid is so contagious it’s going to be unavoidable.
Me… I don’t care frankly ! 🤦♂️ Happy to catch it and see what it does to me. No way im going into hospital tho. I’m too specialist for a general COVID ward, and would just die through mismanagement. Happy to just go with the flow at home. Death, as regular readers know, holds no fear for me, and indeed would be a mixed blessing!
If I don’t get the chance, then thanks for the support I’ve received these last years.
Who’d have predicted this ?! I thought my biggest nasty surprise was behind me, but maybe not! 😂
A few countries would seem to have ( almost ) eliminated the virus from their societies. How did they manage that? Well they carried out mass testing, worked out exactly who had it and told them, then they used sophisticated and rigorous contact tracing to inform anyone who had been in the company of an infected person to be tested and go into isolation if they too had the virus. In the hospitals where the sick went, they had loads of extreme PPE measures in place to protect their medical staff from catching it, and the virus spreading. In the trains, planes and streets they carried out rigorous disinfection to kill the virus on hard surfaces so that people couldn’t contract it through touching stuff. The people were TOLD they had to stay indoors, and when out to buy food wear face masks and to socially distance Infection rates dropped and death rates slowed to a standstill. The virus literally disappeared. It only lives in people ( we hope ) and either the person dies, and the virus dies then too after a while, or the host ( the person ) has a robust immune system which kills off the virus inside their body. As borders are closed, no people with the virus can enter from abroad ( or if they do they are MADE to quarantine. In quarantine they are either found to be virus free, or they develop symptoms and recover or die, but the virus is contained. The people of the country are left in no doubt that the virus is deadly and potentially ruinous to society, so has to be eliminated. Goods coming into the country will not enter contaminated with the virus because any virus on the goods will have died in transit, or been killed by spraying the goods vehicles. It’s actually not rocket science.
I’ll copy and paste the above and put a ✅ or a cross ❌ next to each action to denote whether Britain has done it or not. The UK has the most deaths in Europe, and the virus is widespread in the population, yet the talk now is of removing the lockdown ….🤦♂️

So there you have it then. The second wave will be a tsunami of deaths, because the UK authorities have been too weak.‘ Civil liberties ‘ are put before public health, and political correctness ensures that the really vulnerable aren’t aware. It’s older, fatter men that die. The older and more unhealthy you are, the less chance you have. The educated exercise more than the uneducated, because they are smart enough to realise that being healthy makes you live longer in general. In the UK older white cleverer people exercise more than poorer black and Asian people ( who are consequently in worse physical health ) , so are less likely to die. Of course there are exceptions, but I’m generalising. Many people have undiagnosed health issues that make them less able to fight the virus, but in the main the fitter, younger, and leaner and stronger you are, the less chance you’ll cop it.
In the US most people are unfit, huge numbers are obese, and most aren’t clever enough to realise that their poor self care might well kill them, once they ‘ exercise their Right To Roam ‘ and catch it. Millions will die. Only a vaccine will stop it.
The UK will be the epicentre of the virus in Europe.
We are on the brink of the mass infection and death to the ‘ weak ‘.
Darwinism perfectly illustrated.
Today i was in Morrison’s, and saw a Mexican buying 10 paellas, piles of nachos, crates of sol and 20 sombreros.
I thought to myself – what the fuck is he up to ? and then i realised that it was Hispanic buying. ..
