Happy Easter.

I saw a fantastic play on Friday.

Hills of California is very, very good!

Go and see it before it ends.
It’s a happy and sad play, happy before sad.
A happy family and then a not so happy outcome.

For me it struck a chord I suppose. I am part of a very dysfunctional family… that in years gone by wasn’t that way. I mean it was never perfect, not by a long way, but it’s nowhere near the sh**show it is now.

Anyway… Happy Easter!
If it wasn’t for paralysis I’d no doubt still be paddling in the Devizes to Westminster Canoe race this weekend. Age is no barrier.. but paralysis definitely is !

So it’s TV and chocolate instead..

Give me the cold, wet, dark Thames anytime.

PS
Well this year DW never got as far as W..
The last 26 miles of the race is on the Tideway, from Teddington to Westminster.
Well this year the authorities ( the PLA ) said that the river was flowing too fast so it was too dangerous. Tbh as a canoeist, it’s more dangerous further upstream than it is on that part, so that doesn’t really stack up.
The real reason, I think, was that the river was too turdy. Loads of poo in the water isn’t a positive.
By rights the Oxford Cambridge Boat Race should have been cancelled, on pollution grounds, but obviously that’s far too big a global event to cancel…. TV rights and sponsorship etc etc. It’s not about the health risk to the athletes! That’s a minor issue.
So they let that slide then .. but cancelled the final leg of the ( far harder but far less commercial canoe race ).

Well I never.

About 3 weeks ago I discovered I had, well let’s say, a VERY close relative that I had no idea I had.
That’ll be the perils ( sorry, the joys ) of anyone joining Ancestry.com.

I met him last week.

Lovely man too.

Sometimes surprises are nice ones. Winning the lottery etc.

Given my family is at best dysfunctional… this was a welcome addition!

💥😅💥

Rubbish

Well I go to the theatre a bit, what with getting concessions on tickets.
Most shows I see are ok, and some are much better than ok.
And some are brilliant – like Til the Stars come down.

I’ve never seen anything truly dire.

Well I hadn’t til last night anyway.

Me n Gina G went to see a new musical called Opening Night, starring Sheridan Smith, who is a really talented singer and actress.

But Christ alive, it was just shockingly bad.

Musicals ( not my thing really ) are always at least a bit upbeat, always have a repeating catchy tune and are easy enough to follow

Jeez, Opening Night isn’t any of those. Instead it’s confusing and depressing, and doesn’t have any songs that are in the slightest bit memorable I don’t think they even sing the same song twice.
Actually they don’t sing much at all.

I’ll be amazed if it doesn’t completely bomb.

Shame for Sheridan. God knows why she would agree to be in this.

Christ what a day

After another ridiculous family spat first thing in the morning..

… it got worse when I forgot my Brentford season tickets… slammed on my brakes whilst in front of a double decker bus on Brentford High Street… and turned over in my chair and Triride ( that’s the first time ever ) .. but didn’t get run over!
Another life gone then.

The bus driver actually got out, and with 2 other guys ( Brentford supporters ) they got me back on my wheels.. undaunted I proceeded to go home for my season tickets… and went to the game.

The twenty quid Brentford side drew against the Billion Pound Chelsea team .. 2-2.

Now I’m home and getting dinner cooked for me..

So it’s all fine in the end!
