4 hours I’ll never get back.

Just been to see RENT – the musical.
As usual, I didn’t bother to actually find out what it was about before I went.

As far as I could tell it was a celebration of largely gay people who didn’t work, so couldn’t pay said rent, squatting in a property owned by their mate ( who of course was now the evil landlord ), a lot of whom had AIDS and therefore weren’t that well.
Throw in a drag queen or 2 and some singing and it sends out the message that they are heroic and to be applauded.

Well the actors’ performances were of course excellent, and they can only work to the script theyre given.

The Duke of York’s theatre in St Martins Lane is suddenly now the Tom Stoppard Theatre.
Who can blame them for distancing themselves from Andrew the child molester?

Standing ovation at the end – but never been to a play where that hasn’t happened, regardless of the quality, or subject.

I saw a play in Barnes OSO the night before, directed by Ella Strauss, which was far better…
