Who’s afraid?

I went to see ‘ Who’s afraid of Virginia Woolf ?’ last night, starring Gillian Anderson and Billy Crudup.
They are both superstar actors and it shows.
What a mesmerising combination.

It’s a dark play, for sure- a fair few laughs but with depressing psychological themes.

I’d say it’s a must see… but you can’t go cos it’s totally sold out.
Occasionally being in a wheelchair gets you tickets to stuff that otherwise you wouldn’t see.
Soho Place theatre is a great venue, though they don’t like my Triride and its batteries much, cos they seem to want to call it an electric bicycle and treat it as such.
Anyway, they let me in despite that, thankfully.

Suddenly it’s dark and cold and getting a bit unpleasant to go to places.. and then it’s worse still to get back.
I just replaced my tri batteries at very great expense… but troublingly the new ones don’t seem any better than the old ones.
Hmmmm – that’s not right!

Botox Day, but I don’t look a day younger

Another visit to Stoke Mandeville paralysis unit today.
The staff are lovely and I always appreciate Mr Belci, my consultant. However the place brings back so many awful memories.
Once again I had the maximum dosage allowed of Botox injected into my legs- an attempt to reduce my leg muscles from spasming.
It definitely doesn’t stop it, but it must be reducing it – it’s inconceivable that so much Botox has no impact.

As we went into the building, there was a young woman leaving with tears in her eyes. Had she just visited her boyfriend/ her dad/ her sister that was freshly paralysed, their life forever ruined? Who knows.

Once again my huge thanks to Gina, without whom I wouldn’t be able to do much.
I drove my van ( that has a large wheelchair lift ) but it would all be very nerve wracking without her help.
