Hereās a thing. If you go to Court, having lied in your ā financial depositionā that you sent to the Court ( in which itās supposed to be a criminal offence to lie ) then if you then change your mind and admit to your deliberate ā error ā to the Court, then itās totally fine. The Court isnāt in the slightest bit bothered that a person may have lied to a large degree in their submission.
If you are going to Divorce Court then if I were you Iād feel free to lie to make yourself look hard up, because in the event you are found out to be lying, and then just say you made ā an errorā then the Court is TOTALLY FINE with that.
Hereās a hypothetical scenario. Someone has an asset – a property abroad- that they are very vague about, and allege is worth say Ā£130k.
When the other person finds out that the property is worth Ā£470k ( letās say, in this hypothetical situation ) and challenges the valueā¦ then itās totally ok with the Court if you just agree to the higher value, even though you have done your very best to not admit to that for months. The Court doesnāt care in the least that you have misled both the Court and your opponent in the Hearing, to make your own position look āmore worthy ā
And then if you say that that property has a large mortgage on it, then thatās ok too, even if thatās a lie as well.
And thereās me thinking that you had to tell the truth!!
You donāt. Itās totally fine to lie through your teeth.
Btw, OBVIOUSLY thereās no suggestion at all that this actually happened today in Court to me. Of course it didnāt!! Iām just saying that this sort of stuff DOES happen to some people!
Oh and while Iām at it, for the benefit of anyone reading this, there is ABSOLUTELY NO SUGGESTION that my ex wife has lied continuously to both her solicitor and to myself about the amount of money that she has actually spent on my daughterās time at university so far, by a multiple of 3.
No suggestion at all!
What is true though is that I wonāt be taken for a fool, and until I see proper receipts then everything and anything she says is extremely dubious.
And her a solicitor as well.
Itās supposed to be a crime to lie if you are a solicitor but the chances of anything actually happening to her as a consequence are about zero, Iām sure.
